Volleyball, basketball, softball during Middle School. Tennis in my 30s. Walking, jogging, but mostly walking. Step aerobics, dance aerobics, Zumba with a friend. Swimming, water aerobics. Kickboxing, Core, Kettlebells/AMRAPs. Power class including flipping tires and swinging a sledgehammer into a tire. Exercise bikes, free weights, elliptical machines. A couple of self-defense courses. Yoga.

Above are ways I remained active in the past. I love staying active. Now, I add Street Parking workouts. Functional fitness and bodyweight exercises can be a challenge. Working with a barbell and 20 pound dumbbells can be a challenge. I used to shy away from challenges. Now I welcome them because it gives me more confidence in my physical abilities. This week, I increased my step from 6" to 10". That alone caused me to sweat.

However, my nutrition has been poor. Last week and this week, I stress ate. I caught myself stress eating over lunch time yesterday. Today, I went to McDonald’s drive-through to see long lines with a short time frame to get back to work. I decided to skip the drive through and eat fruit and crackers at my desk. That was delicious.

During the month of August, I was in an online exercise and nutrition challenge where I had to drink at least 80 ounces of water per day, eat at least one serving of vegetables per day, workout 5 times per week, and drink no alcohol. I did that for four weeks and felt so good for making those simple steps.

I am entering an online nutrition challenge during September. I will concentrate on whole foods and better food choices. I am determined to get my nutrition under control so my hard work is evident.
